Chivas Referee Night
(posted 7/12/2011) Thank you to the 23 Region 12 referees that participated in the Chivas Referee Night with Tom Bobadilla. We had a great training session with our National Referee Administrator, Tom Bobadilla, on Directing Games is better than Managing Games. After the training we watched the Chivas game and then had the opportunity to talk to the game referees. It was a great discussion of decisions during the game and how MLS manages referees. Region 12 Boys U19 team at National Games in
Florida
(posted 8/1/2010) Region 12’s Boys U19 went to the National Games hosted by Section 14 in Wellington FL. Our boys, who were famous for “touting unusual haircuts”, finished first out of their pool play but lost a heartbreaker 1-0 to Downey in the quarter finals putting them in the consolation group. Winning both games of the consolation group the team was first in their bracket, 5th place over all. The strength of California soccer was well displayed with 7 of the top 8 teams from California. In order of placing, Rowland Heights, Woodland Hills, Downey, Chino Hills, South Torrance, Miami, Ventura, Palm Springs. (Click on the picture to zoom in)

New National Coaches
(posted 7/15/2010) Your Region hard at work in the off season. Three new coaches earned the National Coach certificate joining Rick Yoern at the highest AYSO coaching level. These volunteers took a week from family and work to complete a grueling class that requires book and field knowledge to pass. Our new National Coaches standing with the AYSO National Coach John Ouellette(from left to right) Melinda McKee, John Ouellette, Darren Clark and Bill Pearson.
